Programs and Services

AIR FORCE AID SOCIETY (AFAS): As the official charity of the Air Force, the AFAS helps military with personal emergencies, such as basic living expenses, essential vehicle repairs and emergency travel expenses.
The General "Hap" Arnold Grant Program helps family members seeking assistance financing their education. AFAS also finances community programs including: Child Care for PCS, Bundles for Babies, Give Parents a Break and Car Care Because We Care.

AIR FORCE WOUNDED WARRIOR PROGRAM: The Air Force Wounded Warrior Program (AFW2) provides assistance and guidance to qualified injured military personnel as they transition into retirement. Help is provided with issues such as financial counseling, Air Force Aid, Relocation, employment and family concerns.
An Air Force Wounded Warrior is any Airman that has a combat or hostile-related injury or illness requiring long-term care that will require a Medical Evaluation Board or Physical Evaluation Board to determine fitness for duty. A combat or hostile-related injury results from hazardous service or performance or duty under conditions simulating war or through an instrumentality of war.

CASUALTY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: Air Force Casualty Services provides prompt reporting, dignified and humane notification, and efficient, through and compassionate assistance to family members and beneficiaries. The office provides guidance to commanders, casualty assistance representatives, family liaison officers and many other support agencies to ensure members and their families are taken care of as expeditiously as possible in a family emergency.
In addition to reporting casualty information on active duty and retired military personnel, the office provides assistance next of kin in filing claims for benefits such as social security, unpaid pay and allowances, gratuity pay, etc.

EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE AND VOLUNTEER RESOURCES: Working with talent, education and experience you bring, we are able to provide you with information and assistance to enable you to enter or re-enter the job market by giving directions on how and where to look for employment. Assistance is also provided to individuals looking for volunteer opportunities and to agencies recruiting volunteers. We also serve as the focal point for recognizing the contributions of Holloman's volunteers.

FAMILY AND LIFE EDUCATION AND INFORMATION AND REFERRAL: Providing information, referral, counseling and follow-up to help increase the quality of life experience for military and family members is the goal of the programs. Assistance is available individually or through workshops. Topics vary greatly and include: local school information, support group assistance, stress management, eldercare, adoption, decision-making and Heart Link; a special program for spouses new to the military.

MILITARY FAMILY LIFE CONSULTANT (MFLC): This program augments existing military support services by offering short term, situational, problem-solving counseling services to military members and their families. These services can also help with understanding the impact of stress, deployments, and family reunions. Services can be provided to individuals, couples, families and groups.

PERSONAL AND FAMILY READINESS: A pre-deployment briefing is provided for single and married military members to increase individual readiness to deploy. Family members are encouraged to attend. We offer free services and programs to help sustain you through the entire deployment cycle. We arrange special events and distribute a monthly newsletter to our "Families Apart." This program issues car care certificates, Makes Pictures on Pillowcases, manages the Key Spouse program and helps smooth access for your non-ID card-holder caregiver when you are deployed.

PERSONAL FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT: This program provides information, education and personal financial counseling to help our military and family members optimize their resources and meet their financial goals. Among the many topics addressed individually or in workshops are: Budgeting, Credit Management, Car Buying, Investing, Home Buying and Selling, and the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP).

RELOCATION ASSISTANCE: The mobile military lifestyle makes demands on every military member and family member. We can assist with up-to-date information and referral whether you are arriving at or departing Holloman Air Force Base. Special programs include Sponsor Training, Plan My Move, Holloman-In-Processing (HIP), HIP Spouse Break-Out, Adopt-An-Airman and Child Care for PCS.
